About me

You’ve just taken the hardest step: looking for help. That’s beautiful and courageous.

Whatever troubles you, know there are answers. They may not be ones you expect – sometimes, the causes aren’t what we think they are. Nor are they just “I’ll be fine” answers.

"Counselling with Jane surpassed what I ever thought was possible.” - K

"I cannot thank you enough. The sessions have been life-changing.” - P

Perhaps lockdown forced the introspection many of us avoided. Maybe coming out of lockdown seems worse. Trying to deal with it all yourself leaves half-thoughts tumbling around in the washing-machine of the mind. You can’t reach conclusions.

Some days, your inner voice is calling for escape from abuse or bullying, for change in relationships or work, for expression of your true self, or for affirmations of dignity and worth. Other days, old voices assert themselves and we fall back to self-defeating behaviours and beliefs.

This is where I help. Affairs of the heart and mind can’t be solved by intellect alone – as the many teachers, doctors, lawyers, scientists, bankers and professors I’ve helped in the past can attest.

"Jane is obviously very knowledgeable and skilled in what she does - it was            my first experience of therapy and she made me feel at ease and                            comfortable.” - S

"Jane has really helped me through a very troubling time and I cannot                    thank her enough.” - H

I draw on my University training, continued education, past experience, case studies and research to find the right approach for your specific situation.

My current area of special interest is survivors of narcissistic abuse and helping individuals in abusive relationships. I’ve worked with trauma bonding and Stockholm syndrome, anxiety and phobias, OCD, work stress, bereavement, miscarriages, IVF, relationship breakdowns, bullying, infidelity, body dysmorphia, gender dysphoria, emotional and physical abuse, survivors of childhood sexual abuse, cult survivors, ADHD, Autism, and low self-esteem.

Are you ready for the next step? Please message or call – the buttons are upper right. We’ll arrange time for a free conversation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I volunteered with Cruse Bereavement Care for many years before going into Private Practice. One of my passions is helping and supporting bereaved clients - a situation often leading to related issues: depression, anger, anxiety, lack of confidence and low self esteem.

I also volunteered as a Counsellor with a Surbiton-based agency, with a diverse range of clients presenting a wide variety of issues.

Some of the lectures I have given include Attachment Theory at a youth conference in Scotland, and leading a three-day teaching and training workshop for volunteer counsellors based in Cairo.

I am also a member of a unique UK-based Orthodox Psychotherapy Group, and the Association of Christian Counsellors. I attend regular conferences, training and lectures and ensure that I keep up to date with the latest research findings.
